Mike & Molly: The Complete First Season [Blu-ray]

Hilarious, PG-13, "loveable losers" sitcom
In the pilot of Mike & Molly (M&M), a thirty-something patrol officer named Mike Biggs (Billy Gardell) meets a fourth-grade teacher of similar age named Molly Flynn (Melissa McCarthy) at an Overeaters Anonymous meeting. Molly is attracted to Mike's gently self-deprecating wit as he shares in front of the meeting about his struggles with his weight. She compliments him after the meeting, and Mike is instantly drawn to Molly, too, but he breaks a finger leaning on a frail table, and their "cute meet" is drastically broken up. When both have second thoughts about taking the romantic risk of going out together, Mike's fellow patrol officer and best friend, Carl McMillan (Reno Wilson) pushes Mike, and Molly's mother Joyce Flynn (Swoosie Kurtz) and her sister Victoria Flynn (Katy Mixon) push Molly, encouraging them to give each other a chance. The growing relationship of Mike and Molly, two unconventional and extremely endearing romantic partners, forms the core of the show.

M&M...

Extremely funny!
When I first saw the commercials for this show, I thought "I don't know..." I thought it might be a "chick show". I really am glad I was wrong. I should have known better with Chuck Lorre behind it, who is the Norman Lear of today's TV. This is easily close to being my favorite show...tied with Chuck's other show "The Big Bang Theory". I've always liked Billy Gardell since the first time I saw him on "Yes Dear", and since I never watched "Gilmore Girls", Melissa McCarthy was a newcomer (to me), and I decided to give the show a try and I am not sorry. The two of them, plus the rest of the cast, have such good chemistry and really play off each other well. Even Jim the dog (the way he and Molly just look at each other). I've always loved Swoosie Kurtz also (who looks almost exactly like my wife) and the one-liners between Carl and his "Nana" are side-splitting, even embarrassing at times! I can't wait for this DVD set to be released so I can clear up some DVR space! Here's to...

FUNNY & Adorable show!!
Watched the entire first season, what a funny and adorable sitcom. Molly is such a natural actress, love the gal who plays her sister Victoria, Carl's nanna, and Mike's mother & her dog. Thank goodness for the DVR, we record and go back to catch what we missed while laughing so hard. This could easily be Two and One Half Women, the 2 sisters and the old red headed mom. So glad it has been renewed, THANKS CBS.
