Great History!
The one thing people thinking of buying or renting this should be aware of, is that it
is mostly scholarly history about Stratford Upon Avon, and William Shakespeare. While tourists will find some information of interest here, do not expect much "this is a great singles pub" or "the kidney pudding here is quintessentially English". What you do get a lot of good info about, including some I have not seen or read elsewhere. is the biography of Shakespeare, and the preservation and history of his writings. Not only is Will well covered, but John Shakespeare, Mary Arden, and Ann Hathaway all get quite a bit of airtime. For those planning to see the new film ANONYMOUS, there is even a little here about the speculations that Shakespeare did not write the plays attributed to him. History of many important 16th century buildings is included. All in all, if you have an interest in The Bard Of Avon, I would rent or buy this, I don't think you will be disappointed.
Excellent and very informative
I have been to Stratford several times but I learned a lot from this presentation and saw things that are closed to the public. It has be longing to go again.
Archaeological findings extremely informative
"Stratford Upon Avon" covered a variety of places that can be visited there. Also covered were the perennial questions about Shakespeare. For example, did Shakespeare actually write Shakespeare? It is evident that much effort continues to be exerted to make this town a place that people will want to visit, regardless of how much depth they wish into Shakespeare's life or the period in which he lived.
